For sale is a Selmer Series III baritone saxophone!
The series III baritone is the big boy on the block and is top contender for best modern baritone saxophone.
The last owner of this horn had this sax de lacquered by there tech.
The finish on this horn is "matte" and the horn is unlacquered. Because there is no lacquer the horn has an interesting finish of strong patina showing metal wear of various colors. Unlacquered horns will continue aging with the finish slowly changing.
Some players specifically purchase brand new factory horns unlacquered from Yamaha, Yanagisawa, P Mauriat, etc. Selmer does not offer this option so some players choose to have a tech remove the lacquer them selves.
This saxophone is sold as used and has its fair share of various metal wear, heavy patina, scratches, dings, fleabites, marks, and other anomalies associated with such a used condition horn.
At one point the bell lip was bent down and repaired, theres a mark in that area.
The horn is playing with everything opening and closing just as should be, however these horns are beast players and this would definitely benefit from a simple leak job and setup.
Included is a Gard Bag brand case thats not in great condition.
Because of the "matte" finish its kind of hard to tell from the pictures but the horn features beautiful hand engraving that sprawls up the bell and body tube.
Since these Series III bari's have only been produced since 2009 + the enormous sell price + the fact baritone saxophones are not ever produced/purchased/sold in large numbers means theres just very few of these in the wild that ever come for sale on the used market.
A brand new Selmer Series III baritones has a sell price of $15,959 with dealers cost not far below that. They are not readily available and typically have a long wait. So any way you slice it used or new these are valuable pieces.
