For sale is a Meyer Bros New York 5M medium chamber alto saxophone mouthpiece!
This is a real deal genuine prime era vintage Meyer New York!
This mouthpiece includes its incredibly rare box and tissue paper in great condition!
While theirs no way to fully confirm it strong possibility that this mouthpiece belonged to jazz saxophone legend Andy Brown from Cab Calloways recording and touring band.
The bottom of the mouthpiece is clearly marked with the name.
The mouthpiece came from an estate selling situation with a few closet queen mint condition saxophones of the same era that look like they had not been opened since the 1950 serial number on the saxophones.
The family member shared that there family member was involved in touring jazz bands in the 1930s and 1940s.
The mouthpiece was in the right place, at the right time, with the name clearly marked on the back, so the story seems to make sense however of course it could have been another saxophonist of the same era with the exact same name who also liked to play Meyer Bros.
All of this doesn't mean anything specific more then the mouthpiece has an extremely cool lore and history behind it to help tell a bit of its past story.
This mouthpiece is being sold as used and has various scratches, knicks, patina, rubber wear, fleabites, and other used marks.
Around the inside of the baffle tip area theres some dried spit that can be seen. If you wanted you could clean up the dried spit spots and make the mouthpiece much cleaner. That will be up to you though we didnt want to touch it at all.
