For sale is a Conn New Wonder II tenor saxophone!
This horn is a prime golden era Conn Chu Berry serial #198xxx!
This horn features rolled tone holes and the nail file G#!
This saxophone is a relacquered saxophone or "once" lacquered.
This horn is a fantastic playing saxophone!
Its important to note this horn is sitting on old pads, and could benefit from a fresh pad job. That being said the horn is playing top to bottom on the current pads.
All of the key motion is freshly oiled moving lightning fast.
The pads are old, but the horn has no leaks and is fully sealing.
The saxophone has a few crescents in the tone holes. Crescents are a specialized repair technique to add a bit of cork to the inside of a tone whole to help the horn play better or more in tune.
Its very rare you come across any horn that have crescents at all, so clearly whoever was the last owner of this saxophone was extremely particular about there setup.
The horn has a massive tone with complete ease free blowing. This does exactly what you want from a Chu Tenor.
Once again great playing horn, but old pads.
The horn also has a broken neck tenon screw.
This saxophone is sold as used and has its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings,, fleabites, patina, metal wear, used marks and other various anomalies associated with such an old antique.
Please check picture #24. The neck tenon screw is broke and currently stuck in the screw. It will be up to you if you keep as is, or choose to have your repair tech fix this.
This horn comes with a random, not great, non Conn case.
These great serial number New Wonder II Chu tenors have gotten quite hard to find over the years with values continuing to climb.
If you have been looking for a new tenor this would be a great option to get a horn that blows the house down while not spending to much money.
