Selmer Reference 54 Dark Laq Mark VI Inspired Alto Saxophone

For sale is a gorgeous dark lacquer Selmer Paris Reference 54 alto saxophone in like new condition!

This horn is a very recent serial #815,xxx.

The Reference 54 originally came out in 2003, so there was close to 20 years of these horns being produced.  These horns were made to be played, so the typical used Ref 54 altos popping up for sale are 5 10 15+ years old used horn that have plenty of strong used marks, patina, etc.

The horn is a used saxophone thats an extremely recent unit in awesome "like new" condition!

We have received and sold Selmer 92DL Supreme alto's with serial numbers as early as #824xxx. 

So this Ref 54 with a serial #815xxx is truly very recently produced unit that was made at the very end of the Ref 54 run. 

Over the close to 20 years there was a number of changes and tweaks to the neck & body of the Ref 54.  The final variant were the best playing Ref 54s produced.

Most of these recent produced Ref 54s were sold new and are still being played by those buyers, so this is a really nice find.

The horn it self has very little play time and is in fantastic fresh condition with only some very gentle surface marks.  Even the case still has the plastic sticker over the Selmer logo.

This horn features beautiful French floral style hand engraving that pops with the dark lacquer.

Its important to note that this horn has extra engraving vs the normal Ref 54.  Its hard to tell in the photos but around the right hand keys there is engraving traveling up the body tube around that key work.  

If you look around at Ref 54 pictures you will find the majority, prolly 99% of the Ref 54s do not have engraving in this area on the body tube.  Every once in a while you see one pop up with this engraving.  It doesnt mean anything particular its just always a nice feature to have as much engraving as possible!

This horn ships with its Selmer case and strap that are fantastic cases that sell for as solid chunk of money by them selves.

These days modern Selmer's have become extremely expensive.  The 92DL Supreme alto sells new for $8696! So the value proposition on these Ref 54s is amazing.
