Selmer Paris Reference 36 Limited Edition Flamingo Tenor Saxophone w/ NO F# Key

For sale is an absolutely stunning Selmer Reference 36 Limited Edition Flamingo tenor saxophone!

This horn is 1 of 40 total Limited Edition Flamingo's that came to North America.  Its very rare that one these comes to market, most of these are locked away in collections never to see the light of day.

This horn features a beautiful hand engraved pair of Flamingos with massive sprawling engraved wings. 

Both sides of the horns neck even features engraving with the rare factory red Selmer S!

The Selmer factory no longer hand engraves saxophones.  All of the current Selmer saxophones are machine engraved so this is a very special piece.

Theres not all that many unique Selmer engravings out there.  There are plenty of the stock normal hand engraving horns floating around, but this horn is one of the last of the unique hand engraved Selmer horns.  

This saxophone features NO F# key!   

This was the massive offering at the time.  Players had been begging Selmer to remove the F# key similar to a vintage Mark VI or Super Balanced Action model.

Many players believe that when there is no F# tone hole, that the saxophone resonates much more and opens up the entire upper range/altissimo. 

This is the last Selmer Paris horn ever produced to date to have no F# key.  They have not done this since.

This horn features beautiful black mother of pearl key touches.  These look fantastic and are an ode to the vintage Selmers that came with black key touches.

This horn features Selmer Paris dark lacquer.  At this point in time all of the Selmer Ref 36s and other horns came in a very yellow shade of lacquer.  This horn featured a darker honey lacquer.  This is a different lacquer then the "Elkhart Dark".

This saxophone comes with its gorgeous Selmer case that came with the horn.  The case has the Flamingo badge as well the other unique Selmer Paris logo.  The case strap and end plug are included.  No other accessories are included.

Overall this saxophone is just a stunning mint piece.  Technically this is a used preowned horn.   We are selling this as a used horn,  but this is essentially new old stock.

The owner this horn came took fantastic care of the sax and shared he is an alto guy, as well has many other tenors, so he just kept this one in collectors condition virtually unplayed shape.  

This horn is an incredible playing functioning saxophone.

The Reference 36s it self have a cult following that some players really love.  Especially with the no F# key.

Even though the last owner did not really play this horn, he passed us along a receipt where $450 was spent on an extensive deep dive next level setup on the horn. 

We now stuck a leak light down the sax and tried to give it a setup but could not find anything that needed improvement! 

While absolutely stunning this saxophone is being sold as used and does have some very light surface scratching or smudging going on. 

Its not a new 2026, fresh off the line sax,  its possible to pick out some marks, but overall Im not sure theres another 1 of these 40 thats in better condition then this. 

These days Selmer Supremes with the stock regular engraving sell for $11,339.  A unique engraved limited edition of that would be however much on top of that.

So although this horn is not a small amount of money, its priced in the pocket!
