A 100-Year Legacy: From NYC to Elkhart
In 1909, Henri Selmer’s brother, Alexandre, moved to New York City and opened a shop on 86th Street. This marked the birth of Selmer USA. By the late 1920s, operations moved to Elkhart, Indiana, where a factory on Main Street became the beating heart of American saxophone history. For over 50 years, Selmer Paris instruments were engraved, finished, and assembled in Elkhart, creating the legendary "American Market" Mark VI and SBA horns that defined the sound of jazz.
The Signature NYC Limited Edition is a tribute to this specific genealogy. It is not just a saxophone; it is a bridge between the soul of the vintage Elkhart era and the mechanical perfection of the modern day.
The Finish: Return of the "Elkhart Dark"
This release marks the return of Elkhart Dark Nitrocellulose Lacquer. Unlike modern chemically tinted lacquers, this nitrocellulose finish is sprayed in layers, mimicking the organic, honey-gold hue of the 1950s 5-digit Mark VI.
Visual Depth: It offers a complexity and warmth that naturally darkens over time.
Aesthetic: It provides the look of a pristine "closet-queen" vintage horn from day one.
Engraving: Elaborate Art Deco-style engraving adorns the bell and body, featuring the NYC skyline and historic motifs that pay homage to Alexandre Selmer’s original shop. There are vintage Selmer nods such as the double S neck Sc, the famous Selmer Butterflies, Lady Selmer, the art deco sun rays as well other hidden easter eggs.

The Signature NYC Edition represents a "Greatest Hits" of Selmer engineering, blending three distinct eras of innovation:
Acoustic Soul of the Series II: The Signature is an evolution of the Super Action 80 Series II. It retains that model's versatility and sweet, round sound—but with vastly improved intonation and response.
Mechanical Precision of the Supreme: It borrows the latest innovations from the Selmer Supreme, including the 3-point concentric neck receiver for sound homogeneity, a nickel-silver tightening ring for density, and Teflon-supported octave keys for fluid mechanics.
Vintage Projection of the Mark VI: Mark VI stye resonance with ToneX Resonators. Premium French-made pads are fitted with a modern revival of 1950s solid-nickel, domed, screw-back resonators. This adds the projection, resistance, and "sizzle" that vintage players crave.
