Yes this is the real deal generation 1, extremely early serial number Sony C800G. Studio owners of these mics prefer the first early generation of these mics and collectors go bonkers for the extremely early ones like this
No one knows for sure what serial number the Sony C800G serial sequence start at but ive never seen an earlier one then 10,000!
If you take a look at nearly every Sony that comes to market they are all 6 digit numbers most closer to the 1 million serial number range. This is not only a 5 digit serial.
Its come to my attention that Sony is currently not making any more Sony C800Gs right now. There is a bit of controversy and confusion on whats going on. Are they having trouble sourcing parts? Are they redesigning the entire mic? Will the mic come back exactly to spec as we know it no it and if so when will that be? years? Will it be a new generation of C800G completely different?
Either way there are no Sony's to go around, and I noticed not a single one was even listed on ebay for sale.
This being said Ive decided to open up my mic vault and list this guy.
The fact of such an early serial number really makes it a rare beast paired with the fact there are no more Sony's to go around. I understand my asking price is strong, however I dont prefer to sell this mic. If the new buyer falls in love with it Im happy to part with it to its final end user!
This mic sounds AMAZING! Vocals sound just absolutely gorgeous through this. This mic sounds amazingly detailed and precise. The music almost sounds pre EQed it sounds so perfect when recorded. Vocals recorded directly through this barley need any mixing.
This mic comes with its original Sony Case, manual, shock mount, cable, power supply, and foam guard.
Many Sony's dont come with the power supply. The power supply it self is a $2000 $3000 thing, so just to confirm this DOES come with a great power supply!
This mic is fully functional with zero problems however is being sold as used and has its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings, fleabites, metal wear, patina and other anomalies associated with a used product from some 30 years of age.
Please refer to picture #7 there is a white mark. I was going to try and clean this off but I didnt want to change the finish around it so I left it as is. Please refer to picture #8 on the heat sync you can see some metal patina or flaking however youd like to describe it.
This mic is in used condition and does have some cosmetic flaws but words cant describe how fantastic the audio fidelity recording with this mic is.
