For sale is a 1955 Selmer Mark VI alto saxophone with glorious original dark chocolate lacquer!
This horn is an extremely early serial #61xxx with its matching 61xxx neck!
Selmers age and patina in many different ways depending on who played it, in what geographic area, did they sweat alot, etc etc many many factors. Every once in a rare while you come across a horn where the lacquer naturally darkens by it self to this almost dark chocolate look.
This horn has that extremely dark chocolate laq patina that alot of collectors and players go bonkers over!
This horn has extremely gorgeous extensive hand engraving and has just the right look.
This saxophone is being sold as used and has its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings, dents, fleabites, metal ware of various red and green colors, patina, repair marks, weld marks, and other anomalies associated with such a used antique. There is a crease on the bell lip that has created almost a hologram type look. I would recommend having a tech smooth this out! The cases zipper is completely broken and is not functional. There is sort of a green patina coming out of the engraving.
This horn is extremely patina'd up and down. Many players love this look but please make sure to look at the pictures and understand its heavily used and patina'd!
This horns pads are mid life, however this horn has just had a full setup directly out of the shop. The horn is fully setup bottom to top. There are no clicks, clanks or metal on metal. The action is lightning speed clamping down hard and fast.
The horn is a serious serious player. The horn is loud and proud with that full bodied lushness with that added sparkle brightness to the sound that is impossible to define!
Playing wise I think any player is going to be over the moon in love with this horn. I'm confident this horn is a serious player!
