For sale is a Selmer Mark VI 97xxx soprano saxophone in glorious original lacquer!
This saxophone was made the exact same year as John Coltrane's famous 5 digit Mark VI soprano that he recorded "My Favorite Things" with!
Please understand that my photo lights are extremely bright and this horn is extremely shiny which makes it tough to catch pictures. The earlier 5 digit dark chocolate lacquer horns are not near as shiny and much easier to photo. By the time the last of the 5 digit Selmer's came this is how they look!
The horns has beautifully detailed ornate engraving. In the hands the engraving's brail is extremely deep to the touch, very obvious as you brush against it that its original laq and engraving!
This saxophone is being sold as used and has its fair share of scratches, knicks, fleabites, metal wear, laq wear and patina associated with such an old horn.
This saxophone had a neck strap added after the factory. Please refer to picture #11 to see this.
The original owner scratched his drivers license number on the inside of the bell. Please refer to picture #12 to see this. We are extremely lucky that its a very small area tucked decently deep inside the bell!
If you have been looking for a Coltrane vintage 5 digit soprano this is an absolutely amazing horn to make a move on so please do not hesitate to buy and pay over!
