Otto Link double ring tenor mouthpieces are among the most sought after and collectible Otto Links one could hope for.
There are a handful of revisions these double rings went through from New York era through Florida over approximate 5 or 10 years they were produced.
Im happy to report this mouthpiece is of the most desirable era from towards the end of the double ring Florida produced mouthpieces before double rings stopped being made and the next NO USA Florida links came out.
If it wasnt rare enough this mouthpiece was a double ring, its a factory stamped "WT" piece. WT stands for Wolfe "Tayne" Tanenbaum.
Fact is you just dont find these double rings ever, let alone with a WT facing.
This mouthpiece comes with its incredibly rare and valuable matching ligature. If you reach Theo Wanne's website, he specifically notates this ligature, that came in the Florida double ring era, without the Otto Link on the ligature.
These mouthpieces were hand finished one by one 65 70 years ago. I personally was not with this mouthpiece and cannot say for sure if this mouthpiece is original condition or not. I will say the markings on the table look just right, and it feels original however one can never e sure.
If you read Theo Wanne's mouthpiece museum article on double rings he specifically notates how these mouthpieces were finished by hand and specifically that the baffles and tips can have wildly different finishes. He goes as far to show examples from 2 original double ring pieces that look wildly different, with one of the tips looking just like this one! Please check out the article its a great read!
This mouthpiece is being sold as used and has its fair share of scratches, knicks, dings, fleabites, metal wear of various colors, and other anomalies associated with such an old vintage antique mouthpiece.
While this mouthpiece is a used mouthpiece and an antique Im very excited about this mouthpieces condition! Most double rings you come across are just completely destroyed.
